Big Improvement from Last Year

I wrote a two star review of this case in December 2020. The folks at ameriDroid reached out to me for more info about the issues I found and we had a nice exchange. They offered to send me another case when they had redesigned it and boy it is a big improvement.

The issues I complained about (bad fit, poor registration for access holes, etc.) have been addressed and this case works perfectly.

My only complaint, and it's a minor one in the scheme of things, is that the finish is fairly rough. This is probably due to the 3D printing process. It's not big deal but it does knock one star off of what otherwise would be a five star review.

Overall a great job and I recommend it. And a big thanks to ameriDroid for listening to me!

Anson, thanks for working with us on addressing the issues you had with the original design! We're working continually to improve the 3d printing finish, and we expect this to improve more over time.

Good idea needs work

I really wanted this to work. But the case is too tight for the RPi and I didn't want to force it and break the board. As it is now the RPi is jammed in with the Ethernet corner stuck. I will probably break the case to remove the board safely.

And yes I did insert the board as instructed, with the microSD and audio ports going first.

Since the case screws together I don't see any reason for the fit to be so tight.

Two stars for effort.

Anson, thanks for your honest review. We're looking into modifications to allow more space inside the case. However, we haven't had any issue with fitting the board completely inside the case. Use the Contact link at the bottom of this page and we'll see what we can do to make this work for you or replace it.

Good for the job

If you want to use a Raspberry Pi 4 and the standard camera module, this does the job. It's a solid case and the selection of colors is nice.

Great case for Pi-based surveillance camera

I got a few of these plus the swivel camera base so I could create my own surveillance camera solution as I don't trust the cloud providers or the proprietary DVR camera systems. The Pi fits in snugly, and it is nice and secure when it is assembled. The standard 1/4 inch tripod mount is handy for a variety of use cases. The Pi camera snaps in nicely and doesn't need any screws to hold it in.

Sorry guys. This case (yes I understand it is 3D printed) sucks.
It just doesn't fit the RPI 4 well. Its flimsy (thin) and too tight on the pi, and so dainty I don't want to try and remove material. This was a complete waste of money.

Sure, it was only 10 bucks. I wanted that sweet camera holder, but, this thing really, really sucks. I bought a metal case for a few dollars more with excellent build quality...but no camera holder.

TL;DR Don't waste your dough, this product is simply not functional.

Hey Ryan. Thanks for your honest review and the email exchange. We've processed a refund for you as we're not satisfied with a product that we've designed unless you are. As you noted, if you first insert the side of the Raspberry Pi 4 that contains the HDMI ports, you'll find that it installs much more easily. We're addressing the issue with the microSD slot so it shouldn't be an issue for future customers.
