The Banana Pi BPI-R4 Router board features a MediaTek MT7988A quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 design, 4GB DDR4 RAM, 8GB eMMC, and 128MB SPI-NAND flash onboard. It includes 2x 10Gbe SFP, 4x Gbe network ports, USB3.2 port, and M.2 support for 4G/5G/NVME SSD. With 2x miniPCIe slots supporting Wi-Fi 7 NIC, it is a high-performance open-source router development board.
The MediaTek MT7988A is a leading network processing platform for wired and wireless applications, offering 36Gbps Wi-Fi 7 with tri-band connectivity (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz). It features 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 2 US GMII interfaces, 4 PCIe interfaces, and 2 USB 3.2 ports. The MT7988A supports fast-evolving tunneling applications with MediaTek Tunnel offload processor System (TOPS) for optimized networking performance.
