I love my XU4!

No fan problems as reported by others, in fact no problems at all and the XU4 exceeded all my expectations.
Absolutely no regrets about ordering from Ameridroid, in fact, I'm ordering an Odroid CO today right after I'm done with this review.

a 3 for fan crapping out

I love the cpu power and most of the hardware but like clockwork the fan craps out at 5 weeks screaming like a rusty bycycle ballbearing.

In dusty environments, the XU4Q is a good choice as it doesn't have any moving parts (passively cooled). Or, the machined XU4 case is a great option for fanless operation: https://ameridroid.com/products/kksb-odroid-xu4-machined-aluminum-case

XU4 - It's "Mature" NOT "Dated"

Why buy a SBC from 2015 in 2020? The answers are simple.
It's still a mini powerhouse by 2020 standards. The Odroid community is huge with several developers working with this SBC. The availability of stable operating systems is vast and growing constantly. The current price is lower than ever before and certainly lower than anything else in it's class. The power / speed of any new SBC is useless without good software and community support. You can go out and buy the latest, most expensive, fastest new whiz-bang SBC in the "hopes" good operating systems will be developed. You may be waiting months or years and in some cases it will never happen. Get an XU4 and you will be starting out with a board that already has a vast array of stable operating systems to choose from.
If you own one you should already know this. If you don't own one, NOW is the time to buy. I've spent the money on a few other boards having "theoretically" better specs and with more RAM. All cost considerably more money and some are setting in a drawer waiting on software availability. You can use an XU4 as an Android media and gaming machine, a full Linux desktop PC, a dedicated retro gaming console, a simple NAS or even a server. You can do all this and more with software already available and in constant development. Only the Raspberry Pi has a larger community than Odroid.
There has never been a better time to buy an Odroid XU4 than now.

Great Little Board!

I replaced an Rpi 3 B+ with this. It's a dedicated seedbox/NAS server for my home. Performance is ridiculously good with the USB3.0 and Gigabit ethernet. ameriDroid shipped my package less than two hours after ordering, I had it in my hands after two days. I live on the other end of the country. Pretty awesome all around, wish I had just gone this route years ago.

Odroid XU4 Kodi and Mame

Hi,
it's a great little computer to use. I have one running 24/7 without a glitch. It's perfect as a media center.
I wrote a tutorial on how to transform the Odroid in a media center for movies, series, music and retro games with mame: https://github.com/yimyom/odroid-xu4-setup
