The Yellow kits come as just the base unit without the CM4 module, and also as a unit including the CM4 module. It is available in a Power-Over-Ethernet version (so you can power it with just an Ethernet cable if you have a POE network switch) or as a standard unit that is powered with a standard wall socket.

The Green is a self-contained unit that is designed for people wanting to get started with Home Assistant without having to make any complicated decisions. It is a basic unit that comes in one “flavor” that just works.
