Upcoming Product: PINE64 Mentions RISC-V as Future Target
PINE64 mentioned in a recent presentation that they are planning to implement solutions based on RISC-V SoCs in the future, as those components become available.
RISC-V is an open-source ISA aiming for ARM’s domination of IoT and embedded gadgets. The open supply RISC-V ISA permits corporations to construct their very own SoCs for IoT and embedded gadgets, with no need to pay royalties related to ARM processors. The RISC-V design and specification was started at the University of California Berkeley in 2010 and is reaching a state where product development is becoming possible.
This will no doubt lead to interesting offerings by PINE64.
