- ⚠️ IMPORTANT – WHAT “PLUG-AND-PLAY” MEANS FOR HOME ASSISTANT GREEN⚠️
This device is truly the easiest way to get started with Home Assistant, but it still needs an internet connection to finish setup:
1. You connect the Home Assistant Green to power and to your router with an Ethernet cable.
2. On the very first boot it automatically downloads the latest Home Assistant OS from GitHub (usually takes 5–15 minutes depending on your internet speed).
3. After the download and install finishes, the device will proceed to boot the HA OS and you can reach the normal Home Assistant interface at http://homeassistant.local:8123 or via the IP address (For example if the IP assigned to your device is 192.168.1.15, you will need to reach http://192.168.1.15:8123 from any browser connected to the same network).
Ethernet cable is included ✓
Power supply is included ✓
If for any reason this process fails, you might need to follow these instructions to make sure the OS is correctly installed "https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/25161225495837-Resetting-Home-Assistant-Green"

- If you select condition "Refurbished":
Get into smart home automation with this refurbished Home Assistant Green — a customer-returned unit (from Amazon) that was used or even unopened, then returned for reasons unrelated to any hardware issues. We have inspected and tested each one: no hardware repairs were needed — every unit was already working perfectly. We simply performed a factory reset so it will boot straight to the Home Assistant setup/onboarding screen, ready for your fresh installation.
What's included:
-
- Home Assistant Green hub
- Power Supply
- Ethernet cable
The hardware itself is in excellent, like-new condition. The original packaging may show cosmetic wear (dents, stickers, scratches, or opened seals), and extras like stickers, warranty cards, or safety information might be missing — but none of that affects performance.
Through our partnership with Nabu Casa (the team behind Home Assistant), ameriDroid is proud to give this high-quality returned hardware a second life — reducing e-waste, conserving resources, and helping the planet — while you enjoy big savings and reliable, privacy-focused smart home performance. Orders ship within 1-2 business days with a 30-day warranty.
- If you select condition "No Box": These units are parts of the Amazon returns sold as Refurbished but these have been returned without the original box. The Home Assistant Green hubs have been tested to be working without any issues.

Trivia Time!
Service is exceptional here. Order delivered with ZBT-2 with fast free shipping. HA Green and ZBT-2 are hard to find in stock at the same time. It was an easy order at a fair price with a nice discount for solving a puzzle during checkout. Hardware supports Home Assistant with headroom to scale. TLDR; It's hard to use for newcomers, and powerful for those with experience.
Our experience with Home Assistant will be excellent if we are familiar with it or with coding in general. The while the UI has visual elements for it's primary functions that are accessible with practice, I would not reccomend HA to anyone who does not wish to make it a hobby. Skill levels vary. I am tech literate and can follow instructions, prompt AI for help, read forums, navigate the HACS community store, comprehend the configuration .yaml, and follow Youtube tutorials; and I've spent at least two hours a day for the past two weeks setting this up in my simple smart home of 30 devices from Tp-Link Kasa, IKEA Matter, Samsung Smart Things, Google Home (good luck, unless you want to pay monthly), DREO, and Hue.
It's equal parts data entry, research, experimenting, testing, and troubleshooting. It demands meticulous foresight into naming schemes which make it cumbersome to rename entities to following a wise name scheme like room_brand_type_script/auto/helper/device_name consistently then realize we make mistakes and have rename and correct every entity that points to the renamed entity. Things like that make HA tricky, not intuitive and straight forward.
There's a lot of logic and executive function involved to decide what to do and how it works. It's easy to create contradictions and runaway automations that trigger themselves and turn our lights into a rave. The frequency and severity of these come down to how intuitively we understand the reasoning of the system and consequences of our actions, which in my personal and technical experience - I do not. Skill Issue, git gü, lack discipline, etc. It's not simple. There's freedom in that, and opportunity to grow - and opportunities to pull our hair out.
I like the power it offers and the puzzles to solve. Compared to more arcane systems of home automation it can be called "easier" with a nice UI that in my option requires immediate automation because everything is buried in the settings menu. The system is frequently updated, the community active and helpful, and the device itself (the subject of this rant) more than capable of running my home with 2.6GB of memory headroom in my small system (4GB total). I have a lot to learn about Home Assistant, but the hardware itself is more than capable of handling the software at a low wattage and perfect compatibility. My gripes like with the software itself, which is changing over time, come from the learning curve involved in mastering its functions. I do not recommend it for those without the interest, curiosity, and time to learn, reason, and experiment with this powerful albeit opaque software. It gets easier, it doesn't get easy.
Have fun with your new hobby. It offers many hours of puzzles and a powerful system to connect *most* of your smart devices. Home Assistant Green is more than enough to run this software quiet and cool at low wattage with no reliability issues from the hardware itself, it's as good as you make it. Keep your name scheme, get regular backups, download HACS, and dive into .yaml. Good luck!
I love the Home Assistant Green, it's a fantastic product, so easy to setup. Ameridroid did a good job keeping me informed about my purchase and it was received in good condition as promised.
I'm really enjoying switching from SmartThings to Home Assistant in our new home. Better integration and more options. The refurbished unit has been rock solid
HA is working great and so much fun!
I’m very happy with the entire experience, from placing the order to the quick support I received for my post-purchase questions.
If I’m being honest, the shipping speed was a bit average compared to modern "instant" expectations (which usually feels like a -1 star), but the team more than made up for it with a gesture I never see anymore: a handwritten "Thank you" on the receipt in the package. That personal touch immediately earned that star back! It’s great to support a business that actually cares about its customers.
