Home Assistant Green

I have had great results with the installation of my HA Green. The product was supplied on time and as promised. It requires some patience to adapt to the tech, but my initial setups are working great!

Did not realize integration with Alexa requires monthly subscription to cloud

Buyer's remorse here. My fault that I did not do enough research before adopting this ecosystem. I had no idea that in order to integrate with Alexa, I would have to pay a monthly subscription fee. I know there are methods to set up communication with Alexa using a user-defined skill or using Hue emulation. I tried both but was still unable to get Alexa to discover devices added on HA. I might troubleshoot it deeper and if I cannot get it to communicate, I might abandon this and go with Hubitat which has Alexa integration built-in without extra fees.

Update: I've added an additional star as I was able to finally get emulated_hue to work in my setup. The hours of troubleshooting revealed that I needed to explicitly name the devices using the "name" variable for Alexa to discover them. The FAQ mentioned that this variable was optional and if absent, it would default to a device friendly name. I'm not sure why that didn't work in my case, perhaps there were conflicts in the name or the default entity name was too long. In any case, for those who can't get Alexa to discover the HA devices even though you've verified that port 80 does show visibility, try using the name variable. It might just work for you. I would've given this review 5 stars if this ecosystem offered Alexa integration without subscription fees like Hubitat (at least as of this writing).

AmeriDroid though... excellent customer service, communication, fast shipping... everything you'd expect from online retailers today.
