The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 (formerly known as SkyConnect) is designed to be a perfect match for Home Assistant Users. The device provides an easy connection with Zigbee and will support Matter specifications in the future with a firmware update from Home Assistant*. The product supports Over-The-Wire (OTW) Firmware Update via the USB interface, which allows easy and quick firmware updates for both protocols.

The device is an EFR32 Series 2 (Silicon Labs EZSP v8) adapter that will transmit at a power of +20 dBm. The drive supports full-speed USB 2.0 when plugged into the included USB extender.

Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 can also be used to turn your Home Assistant installation into a Thread border router. Currently, enabling Thread involves manual steps. The integration of the Home Assistant Thread border router with Matter is work-in-progress. To learn more about Thread border routers, refer to the List of Thread border routers. To learn how to use Connect ZBT-1 to turn your Home Assistant into a Thread Border router, refer to Turning Home Assistant into a Thread border router. To Enable Thread Support you can also follow the instructions here (This setup facilitates the connection of Matter-over-Thread devices to your network).

The USB Stick will be Plug and Play, tightly integrated with the Zigbee Home Automation integration allowing for a beginner-friendly experience.

* The ZBT-1 will not run Matter immediately on launch, but when using Home Assistant, the firmware will be updated to enable Matter when it is finished being developed. This is due to the Matter protocol not being finalized and released until November (not all of the protocol specifications are currently available). Home Assistant is already working on the Matter implementation, but more information will come after November.

Vary easy to install in HA Green

I bought two

I bought the SkyConnect when I first got my Home Assistant Green. It's worked really well for SONOFF Zigbee products that I also got from AmeriDroid. When I saw the experimental multiprotocol wasn't going to work for Zigbee/Thread I bought the ZBT-1 with a shielded USB cable. I've got them both hooked up to my HA Green and they're working perfectly. I would recommend to anyone looking to run Zigbee, Thread, or both from your HA Green.

So far so good

I had a big issue with the USB Connect, it did not come updated, the site to update it is temporarily unavailable. Hence was a pain to fix it, but finally after watching some YouTube videos and google search was able to fix it, was about to return but tried my best until 4 AM to fix it (10 hours troubleshoot)now it works and monitoring it, https://connectzbt1.home-assistant.io/firmware-update/

Works great

Had no problem configuring the the ZBT-1 to work with my PC-based Home Assistant hub. The ZBT-1, my temperature & humidity sensors, and my smart plugs were all detected and easily configured.
