Featuring a robust 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, the Raspberry Pi 5 showcases a notable 2–3× increase in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, the Raspberry Pi 4. Complemented by an enhanced 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU, dual 4Kp60 display output via HDMI, and advanced camera support through a revamped Raspberry Pi Image Signal Processor, it ensures a seamless desktop experience for consumers and unlocks new possibilities for industrial applications. Notably, the Raspberry Pi 5 marks the first time a full-size Raspberry Pi computer incorporates silicon developed in-house by Raspberry Pi.

The RP1 "southbridge" significantly elevates I/O capabilities, doubling aggregate USB bandwidth for faster external UAS drive transfers and high-speed peripheral connections. The two-lane 1Gbps MIPI camera and display interfaces of previous models are replaced by dual four-lane 1.5Gbps MIPI transceivers, tripling total bandwidth to accommodate up to two cameras or displays simultaneously. SD card performance sees a twofold increase through support for the SDR104 high-speed mode. Additionally, the platform introduces a groundbreaking single-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface, providing robust support for high-bandwidth peripherals.
