Refurbished: This refurbished Home Assistant Voice PE Hardware is a fully tested, returned unit in perfect working condition (Updated to the current Firmware), complete with its original box. It may lack stickers, the getting started guide, warranty, and safety information, and could show minor dents or scratches.

The open source, privacy-focused voice assistant, built to work with Home Assistant

Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition is the open source, privacy-focused voice assistant built to seamlessly connect with Home Assistant, and preview the future of voice today. Its advanced audio processor and dual microphones allow it to hear your commands and control devices. Tactile controls, the injection-molded case and LED ring lend to its premium feel, allowing it to blend into the home.

Note: Voice Preview Edition requires Home Assistant to operate. Lower-performance Home Assistant hardware may result in slower speech processing. For optimal performance, we recommend offloading speech processing to Home Assistant Cloud if your hardware is less powerful. If you are experiencing issues please try to upgrade to the latest firmware by connecting your HA Voice PE to a computer via USB-C and using this tool "https://esphome.github.io/home-assistant-voice-pe/".

Requirements

Home Assistant already configured on another device.

For fully local speech processing, we recommend a
Home Assistant system based on an Intel N100 or higher
for the best experience. Lower-performance hardwaremay
work but could lead to slower processing.
If you experience delays, you have options:

  • Consider using external hardware for voice
    processing, such as a
more powerful server or a dedicated system.
  • Offload speech processing to Home Assistant Cloud,
which ensures smooth performance regardless of
    your hardware.

This flexibility allows you to choose the setup
that works best for your needs.

Check Home Assistant Assist documentation

Ameridroid is great. HAOS preview is trash.

I'm experiencing significant difficulties with the 2.4GHz connectivity of this device. While the click wheel is a nice feature, the performance is hampered by what appears to be an broken Arduino chip. Specifically, major issues connecting to the device when using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network configured for South Korea, even after flashing OpenWrt on a TP-Link Archer A6 v3.

Interestingly, my other 2.4GHz-dependent smart home devices connect without issue as i have set it to varoius other settings. This suggests a problem specific to this particular device's chip or the openwrt wireless networking authentication. I've attempted numerous configuration variations, but the device consistently fails to authenticate. This is quite frustrating, as I'm now resorting to using an older router i used when Obabma was president for this to connect.

The text-to-speech functionality is notably slow, making it impractical for daytime use. It only seems to function reliably during periods of low network activity. Due to these persistent issues, I'm considering developing a custom voice assistant solution using a Raspberry Pi Zero. This would allow me to use the South Korean Wi-Fi bans from my openwrt and massively improve download speeds.

Another area of concern is the lack of built-in Kodi integration in ESPHome. Unlike my phone's messenger app, which integrates seamlessly with Kodi, ESPHome requires manual commands to control media playback. While this workaround does function, it feels unnecessarily cumbersome and indicates a limited level of functionality out of the box.

Overall, I'm disappointed with the performance and limitations of this device and am exploring alternative solutions to meet my needs.

The speaker is a little bit tinny, but otherwise I'm really liking it.

Almost good

Must say all in all very happy with the preview edition. Struggles sometimes to understand probably through interference from the airconditioner . Also is there is sound on television or someone speaking it picks it up after a command is spoken and doesn’t execute the command. But yes, it’s not for nothing a preview edition but I must say guys at Hass “ very well done.” This can only become better

The best Vioce assistant for HA

This is the second one I purchased and have tried many other solutions but this is by far the best and easiest to setup in Home Assistant. It can unstand you from across the room without raising your voice at all. You will not be disapointed!
