For years I've looked for a simple, cost-effective way to hook up my old, long-neglected alarm panel to the internet so I could monitor the huge array of dry contact sensors that linked up to every door and window on the first floor. I was tired of changing the batteries on the few door/window sensors that I had installed so I wanted a device that didn't need batteries, but all the z-wave or zigbee dry contact monitors I found had just a single input and cost $20 or more - making any smartifying project cost prohibitive. I was delighted to discover the Shelly Wave i4 DC which allowed me to monitor 4 inputs for less than $20. It installed quickly and paired well with my SmartThings hub and now I'm hoping that Shelly can quickly make some more so I can hook up the rest of the sensors!
