Description

BETA RELEASE: You may need to update the firmware on the device. It may not be fully supported by your hub at the time of purchase.

Meet the switch that does the work of three smart devices. The Zooz Motion Dimmer ZEN12 800LR combines a full-featured Z-Wave dimmer, built-in motion sensor, and ambient light (lux) sensor into a single wall switch. It automatically responds to motion, intelligently adjusts to lighting conditions, and gives you complete control over your lights and automations, all without adding separate sensors around the room.

Powered by the latest 800 series Z-Wave chip, the Motion Dimmer supports Z-Wave Long Range, SmartStart, and S2 Authenticated Security for faster, more reliable local control. Whether you're upgrading a bathroom, hallway, laundry room, garage, or closet, this switch makes everyday lighting smarter while reducing device clutter.

FEATURES

  • 3 devices in 1: smart dimmer, motion sensor, and lux sensor
  • Automatic lighting based on occupancy and ambient light
  • 800 series Z-Wave with Z-Wave Long Range support*
  • Scene Control with multi-tap, hold, and release actions*
  • Smart Bulb Mode for Philips Hue and other smart bulbs*
  • Smooth LED dimming up to 150 Watts
  • Direct 3-way installation with a standard mechanical switch (or virtual 3-way with 2 Zooz switches)
  • Highly customizable through advanced Z-Wave settings*
  • SmartStart pairing and S2 security
  • Designed and supported by Zooz with US-based technical support and a 5-year extended warranty when registered within 30 days of purchase

NOTE: Z-Wave hub required - sold separately. *Your smart hub / controller needs to support advanced settings for you to take advantage of this feature.

The Motion Dimmer combines:

  • Smart Z-Wave dimmer
  • Motion sensor
  • Lux (ambient light) sensor

The built-in motion sensor detects movement up to 25 feet away, while the integrated lux sensor continuously monitors ambient brightness. Together, they allow your lights to react only when someone is present and when additional lighting is actually needed.

Instead of creating automations using multiple devices, everything happens directly from the wall switch for a cleaner installation and a more reliable smart home.

Before installing, make sure the load does not exceed 500 W for incandescent lights or 150 W for dimmable LED's.  Use with dimmable lighting fixtures only.

Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your gang box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).

If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.

Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range Motion Dimmer ZEN12 800LR wiring diagram

Here are some helpful wiring tips:

  • Make sure the gang box you are about to install the switch has a neutral wire available - you will not be able to get the ZEN12 switch to work without a neutral wire.
  • Unlike regular mechanical switches, Z-Wave switches require all of the wires to be connected exactly as indicated - line and load wires can never be swapped as it sometimes happens to the most experienced electricians.

How to include the Zooz Motion Dimmer to your smart home network?
1. Put your Z-Wave hub in inclusion/pairing mode (use Z-Wave Long Range if available)
2. Scan the SmartStart QR code on the front metal plate of the switch or tap the top button of the switch 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process manually
3. A new dimmer, motion sensor, and lux sensor should appear on your hub's device list

NOTE:  Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches.
