The Apollo Automation R PRO-1 PoE mmWave Multisensor (LD2450 and additional LD2412 add-on option) is Apollo's most advanced presence sensor. Designed for power, precision, and reliability, the R PRO-1 is a compact PoE mmWave sensor built for high-accuracy motion detection and environmental monitoring in smart homes and commercial buildings.

This versatile sensor supports true PoE (802.3 compliant) and USB-C power, and includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, enabling flexible installation and seamless smart home integration. Its small form factor combined with PoE or USB-C (5V/3A) power options makes the R PRO-1 ideal for quick deployments in a wall or ceiling.

Equipped with optional support for the SCD40 (true NDIR CO₂), the R PRO-1 transforms into a powerful all-in-one indoor environmental monitor.

The device proudly carries the Made for ESPHome badge, ensuring full compatibility and easy integration with the ESPHome ecosystem and Home Assistant. It will ship with a Wi-Fi firmware that can easily be changed to PoE in the device dashboard.

The base sensor includes the LD2450, which provides true multi-zone motion tracking with defined zones in its field of view. The optional LD2412 which works in addition to the LD2450 excels in still presence detection, allowing accurate sensing of seated or resting individuals. Together, these two mmWave sensors work in tandem to deliver comprehensive, real-time occupancy data.

Like all Apollo products, the R PRO-1 is fully local, open-source, and requires no cloud subscription. It is a top-tier choice for anyone seeking a privacy-focused, local-first motion and environmental sensor.

As with many sensors, heat can affect the optional temperature and humidity readings, requiring significant calibration offsets. CO₂ measurements may be skewed when the sensor is recessed in walls or ceilings. Although we originally did not plan to include these additional sensors due to such challenges, feedback from the Home Assistant and smart home communities encouraged us to offer these options for users who want enhanced environmental monitoring.

USE CASES

Use mmWave radar to instantly detect motion and automatically turn on the lights when someone enters a room. Thanks to its excellent ability to detect stillness, mmWave also keeps the lights on while someone is seated or resting. This is ideal for offices, bedrooms, and living areas.

Place the mmWave sensor under a bed to detect presence during sleep, enabling powerful morning and sleep automations.

The built-in RGB LED is perfect for visual alerts. Turn it green for trash night or blue when mail arrives in the mailbox.

The onboard piezo buzzer provides clear sound notifications. Use it to beep when CO₂ levels are high, when the front door opens, or for fun effects like sound alerts and party tricks.

The UV sensor lets you monitor sunlight coming through windows, while the LUX sensor allows smart lighting automations that only activate when the room is dark.

An optional NDIR CO₂ sensor gives real-time air quality data. Many people do not realize how high CO₂ levels can get in bedrooms or offices. Elevated levels can cause drowsiness, brain fog, and poor sleep. The sensor alerts you when ventilation is needed, helping you maintain a healthier environment.

The R PRO-1 supports both the LD2412 and LD2450 mmWave radar modules:

• LD2412 (Optional) delivers high-accuracy still presence detection, ideal for seated or sleeping individuals.

You can combine both modules to create a hybrid smart presence sensor capable of advanced occupancy detection in real time.
