NOTES

  • Printed to order: Printed on a first-purchased, first-shipped basis. Due to the length of time required to 3D print items, it is likely this item will be delayed by one or more days while printing occurs.
  • 3D-printed items may have small imperfections and cosmetic flaws. These imperfections will not interfere with the performance or fit of the parts.
  • Assembly required - Phillips (+) screwdriver recommended.
  • In order to make use of the fan control algorithm provided in many OS images for the XU4 when using the Noctua or other 40mm 5v fan, the fan connector needs to be cut off and replaced by a connector compatible with the XU4's on-board fan controller. This can easily be salvaged from the fan included on the XU4.

Great alternative case for the XU4

The case quality is decent (it does mention that it is 3D printed and will not be as nice as an injection-molded case). Assembly is pretty straightforward, and there are several heatsink mounting clips included, plus a bracket to hold the UART cable if you want to keep one attached. There is also a mounting space for the RTC battery - I would recommend using a bit of hot glue or double-sided tape to hold it securely in place. This case can be run horizontally or vertically. Using it vertically is super neat when using the Noctua fan as it has rubber feet that isolate the fan from the case and the desk, minimizing any vibrations from the fan. On that note, I highly recommend getting the recommended Noctua fan and gold heatsink for the best experience with this case. They are a bit pricey, but as they say - you get what you pay for!!
