I have my blue iris cameras set up to control my lights after sunset (controlled through Home Assistant). They do a great job of turning the lights on, but not so good of a job keeping them on if we are just sitting on the sofa. That was the purpose of this device. Keep the lights on if we are stationary. It works flawlessly for this purpose through ZHA and Home assistant. I honestly didn't know this device also had a light sensor until I already received it. I was going to incorporate that into my automation so lights could come on when the room is below a certain brightness, however the sensor doesn't read out lumens when connected to ZHA, it only provides a Light or Dark read out. Additionally this sensor only updates on new motion triggers. So unfortunately I don't really utilize the light sensor but the device works perfectly for my initial need. As always Ameridroid is great. It always makes me smile seeing the hand written note on my receipt and the sour patch kid in the box. It's small things like that that make ordering from a small US based company worth it.

I’m working to eliminate the cloud-connected microphones in my home. But I want to continue to be able to command my home by voice.
With a bit of work you can recreated every voice command currently used with Alexa, to set scenes and turn off the downstairs, an turn on the loft lamp, and hey Jarvis, movie time. I prefer hey Jarvis…. Wish I could change it to hey Alexa just to match my habits. I recommend using Claude ai to help through the learning curve. Something I’m still on… Claude can draft YAML code to make scenes and automations easier to build.

I will say these devices arent perfect. They arent quite as responsive as my echo dots were. I run local ollama, piper and whisper so it took quite a bit of fiddling for me to get them to control what I want. Their speakers are dog water, fortunately I do have sonos era 100s around the house to make up for that. All this to say that even with their short comings and occasional frustration of false positives or misunderstandings it is well worth it for the privacy focused individual. As always Ameridroid is amazing and I love supporting them as a company.

I have a couple other meshtastic devices that were either purchased as a whole, or put together from multiple sources / purchases. I like this kit a lot.

This kit was still a 'diy' build (in that I clicked "print" on the 3D printer with my very own hands) but without the basic sourcing annoyances. If you plug in all the included stuff and then give it power, you are good to go! DO NOT POWER RF STUFF WITHOUT ATTACHING THE ANTENNA.

Perfect for monitoring my basement!

I had been running Hone Assistant in a VM on my Mac mini, but wanted to make the official move to a separate server. I was worried about the migration process, especially because I had expanded the VM’s virtual disk being 32Gb, but all I had to do was plug in Green, perform a restore, and migrate my zigbee network, and it’s been running flawlessly ever since.

I'm impressed with the easy setup, strong signal strength, and controllable outlets. I definitely recommend them for anyone wanting to increase the area covered, especially with challenging building structures.

This was my first venture into Zigbee/Thread outside of using them via IKEA/Hue hubs. Ordering was simple (apple pay on website), shipped fast. Product wise the setup was simple and is working great. Moved ~200 Zigbee devices from Hue/IKEA directly to Home Assistant. Ordered a second one a few weeks later and setup Thread as well. Both are working great on a single system.
